Baked milk pudding

My favourite comforting easy dessert!

If you ask me what’s my go to easy comforting dessert it’s definitely this baked milk. It’s custardy, has a lovely caramelised top and an addictive spiced milk flavour. Definitely one of my top desserts 💯

🌱Vegetarian

🍽️2-3 portions

🍮Ingredients

  • 40g butter

  • 30g plain wheat flour

  • 6g cornstarch

  • 480g whole milk

  • 45g caster sugar

  • Lemon zest

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

🍮Method

  • In a large bowl mix the milk, cornstarch, sugar, vanilla and lemon zest

  • Add the butter to a saucepan and bring to medium heat so it melts. Add the plain flour and whisk with the butter for 2 minutes so it cooks

  • Slowly add the milk mix to the pot while continuously whisking until it becomes a fully homogenous mix. Continue cooking at medium high heat until it thickens up

  • Transfer to an oven safe dish and bake at 200C for 20-25min until it becomes golden brown on top

  • Leave it to cool for 10 minutes before enjoying!

FAQS and Tips

  • You can substitute the vanilla with a cinnamon stick, it is also delicious !

  • This dessert is best enjoyed on the same day as otherwise it sets and looses the creamy consistency
