Hot honey halloumi bites

The crispiest halloumi you’ll ever try!

This is one of my favourite snacks at the moment. Picture a soft halloumi coated in the crispiest Parmesan panko breading 😍 all topped with a fire hot honey sauce that really balanced out the saltiness of the cheese!

Ingredients

  • 1 halloumi block (225g)

  • 40g panko

  • 20g parmesan

  • 1 egg

  • Olive oil to cook

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes

Method

  • Cut the halloumi cheese into cubes

  • Mix the panko and grated parmesan in a bowl. In a separate bowl beat your egg

  • Bred the halloumi by dipping it into the egg and then into the parmesan panko making sure it is well coated in all sides

  • Heat a frying pan with olive oil and fry your halloumi until golden brown on all sides

  • Transfer halloumi to some kitchen paper to remove excess oil

  • Prepare the hot honey by mixing the honey and chilli flakes

  • Serve your halloumi in a bowl, add the hot honey and mix well so it spreads evenly

FAQS and Tips

  • You can also fry the halloumi cubes in an air fryer. Spray them with oil and bake at 200C for 10min, give the basket a shake, spray lightly with oil and bake for another 1-3min or until golden brown.

  • Can I make this recipe GF? Yes, you can by using GF breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes instead of panko

  • if you are struggling to get the egg to stick to the halloumi you can coat the halloumi cubes in plain flour beforehand
