Cheeseburger flatbread

An easy and delicious dinner!

After my viral potato flatbread I have become obsessed with all things flatbread and this is probably. They are so simple to make, just mix the mince meat, seasoning and cheese, spoon into the flatbreads and pan fry until golden and crispy. I love having this dish for dinner with burger dipping sauce for an easy, high protein and healthy complete dinner.

While making your own dough can be intimidating, I am teaching you here how to make a fool proof version in less than 10minutes with very little kneading and a couple of ingredients. And the cheeseburger filling stays so juicy because the flatbread encasing traps all the moisture and goodness inside.

You can also make the dough and filling in advance and then just assemble the flatbreads together once you are ready to eat them!

🍽️ 2 flatbreads

Ingredients

For the flatbread

  • 160g self raising flour

  • 100g milk

  • 2 tsp salt

Cheeseburger filling

  • 1tbsp olive oil

  • 250g (veggie) mince meat

  • 200g tomato sauce

  • 50g mozzarella

  • 50g cheddar cheese

  • optional: 1 tbsp chopped pickles, 2 tsp mustard, 2tbsp caramelised onion

Method

  • Make your flatbread dough by adding the self raising flour, salt and milk to a bowl. Knead for 5 minutes until it becomes a smooth easy to manage dough that is not sticky. Cover with a cloth and leave it to rest for 10min while you make the filling

  • Start by pan frying the mince with the olive oil at medium high heat until for about 4 minutes. Add your tomato sauce, season with salt and pepper and cook for 4 more minutes. Remove from the heat and at this point you can add the mustard, pickles and caramelised onion.

  • Take the dough to a floured surface, knead it for 4-5 more minutes and divide into two equal portions. Roll out each portion into a square with a rolling pin, the thickness should’t be higher than 0.5cm. Now place a generous amount of the mince meat filling in the middle of the dough square leaving about 3cm on each side of the dough without filling. Cover with as much grated mozzarella and cheddar cheese as you’d like. Now fold each side of the dough over each other making the filling is completely covered by the dough. Dust with more flour and then flaten it with a rolling pin to form your flatbread.

  • Heat a pan to medium heat and add 1 tbsp of olive oil if desired to help it crisp us. When hot, begin cooking the flatbread for about 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.

  • Serve immediately and enjoy while hot!
